At the end of the day, the PIG FDT-Alpha Gloves are a consumable product that will provide the user with the best tactile dexterity available in a tactical glove, and should be worn to destruction, then discarded and replaced. The selection of super sensitive materials and extremely tight seams mean that these gloves will eventually wear out, and there are no warranties implied. Please try them on and inspect them thoroughly for fit and finish before removing from the hangtag, but be forewarned, you will not want to take them off.
FAQs
Q: These gloves seem tighter than my other tactical gloves, is that OK?
A: YES- the PIG FDT-Alpha gloves will fit snugger around the hand by design. We have removed as much loose material in the patterning process to achieve a solid “bare-back” feel when shooting. As long as the gloves are not so tight that they are uncomfortable when your hands are at rest, you’ll be GTG.
Q: Why are the palms and knuckles Black on the Ranger Green and Coyote glove models?
A: Our multi-piece palm uses 2 different thicknesses of Clarino which are only available for both thicknesses in Black or White. In order to keep these gloves as affordable as they are, we had to use materials that were easily available to the sports glove manufactures we worked with. Gloves do not take a lot of raw material, but ordering custom colors requires a tens of thousands of yards of material, and matching the colors on this initial model glove would have driven the cost of these gloves well over $100.
Q: I thought all PIG Tactical gear is Made in the USA, why not the gloves?
A: We wanted terribly to have these gloves made in the USA. The heart-breaking and tragic reality is that there are NO manufacturers in the USA that are capable of making gloves of this complexity. While PIG gloves are designed in the USA by AMERICANS, sports glove manufacturing has been outsourced overseas for decades to the point where we no longer have the capability. The choice was make them overseas, or not at all, and we felt these gloves were important enough that they had to be made regardless of country of manufacture.
Q: Why don’t you offer a warranty on these gloves?
A: Gloves used in a tactical environment are a consumable item, plain and simple. You can’t expect to handle hard metal objects regularly and have something hold up forever, especially when they are specifically made with thin materials for sensitivity. However, we price these gloves low enough so that they can be worn to destruction, then discarded and replaced without breaking the bank.
That being said, we have a prototype pair that were worn over the course of over 20,000+ rounds being expended through various firearms, including 2 separate week-long shooting programs (Mid-South & DARC), and an entire warehouse move that involved tearing down and putting up scores of pallet shelving units. They’ve also been washed over 5 times. They are still going strong after a solid year of use.
Q: I’ve used them hard and put them away wet, and they are now pretty funky- how do I wash these?
A: Throw them in the washing machine with a normal load of laundry, your normal cycle, your normal detergent, no special treatment needed. Be sure to close the wrist strap so the hook Velcro doesn’t aggravate other fabrics in the wash. Yes it is low profile hook, but prudence dictates you should still try and cover it.
